Amelia’s Ward could be a nightmare
While some residents of Amelia’s Ward, Linden can boast of living in relative comfort, with most if not all of the basic utilities available to them, for a large percentage this is not the case.
And chief among the concerns of the latter are the sand ‘roads’, which bus operators understandably refuse to ply. Almost all of the access roads on the northern side of Lovers Lane are sandy and impassable to most vehicular traffic.
This situation has resulted in serious hardships for commuters, who are forced to disembark at designated points, and walk the remainder of the journey- sometimes with heavy loads, according to reports.
Of concern, too, is the water situation. Many who are without any source of water supply to their homes, have complained bitterly of having to purchase a tank of water for $3,000. This situation is only alleviated when it rains.
Bushy unoccupied house lots are also a source of worry for the residents of Amelia’s Ward. Many of these compounds are mini jungles and some residents are suggesting that owners of these lots be mandated to clear them on a regular basis, or pay a fine. According to the residents, the bushy lots provide fertile breeding grounds for reptiles, rodents and mosquitoes. They also provide safe havens for those with criminal intent.
