The persons involved in the Gymnasium shooting more than a month ago made another court appearance yesterday and were read more charges, all of which were dismissed.
All parties in the matter except Jason Langevine who was absent declined to give evidence against each other. As a result the three who were accused were ordered to pay court cost and placed on a bond to keep the peace.
Jermaine Langevine and Mark Goodridge had a total of ten charges read jointly to them yesterday, while Vibert Weekes had three read to him.
Weekes appeared in court yesterday to be read three charges, two counts of felonious wounding and an attempt to commit murder.
It is alleged that on September 22 Weekes unlawfully and maliciously inflicted grievous wounds upon Jason Langevine. It is also alleged that on the same day Weekes unlawfully and maliciously wounded Jermaine Langevine with intent to maim disfigure or cause grievous bodily harm. It is further alleged that he attempted to murder Jermaine Langevine. Weekes who was represented by attorney at law Basil Williams pleaded not guilty to all the charges read to him.
Meanwhile Mark Goodridge and Jermaine Langevine appeared in court to be read five counts of discharging a loaded firearm and five counts of felonious wounding. It is alleged that on September 22, Goodridge and Langevine discharged a loaded firearm at Oriley Small, Terence Edwards, Jamel Thomas, Jason Marks and Dwayne Wharton with intent to maim or disfigure or to cause grievous bodily harm. It is also alleged that he unlawfully and maliciously wounded Small, Edwards, Thomas, Marks and Wharton with intent to maim disfigure or cause grievous bodily harm. Goodridge and Langevine who were represented by attorney at law Gordon Gilhuys, both pleaded not guilty to all ten charges.
The magistrate ordered Weekes to pay a total of $40,000 court cost, while Goodridge and Langevine paid a court cost in total of $80,000. All three were placed on a bond to keep the peace for two years. They are expected to return to court on December 1 where Jason Langevine is to appear to declare if he wishes to give evidence against Vibert Weekes.
The court matter stemmed from a football match at the National Gymnasium on September 22 which turned potentially deadly when a loaded firearm was discharged, resulting in five men being shot.
