The High Commissioner, Subi Kumar Mandal, said, “Mahatma Gandhi was a great man who sought to conquer hate with love, and our experiences with history show violence has never brought an end to our problems.
“Today we also celebrate the third anniversary of International Day of Non-Violence which is a tribute to the apostle of peace”.
Prime Minister Samuel Hinds, stated, that the response to violence and aggression cannot be solved with more violence but with love and non-violence. These were also the teachings Martin Luther King and Nelson Mandela inculcated into their lives.
Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was born on October 2, 1869. He died January 30, 1948.
He developed a method of action based upon the principles of courage, nonviolence and truth called Satyagraha. He believed that the way people behave is more important than what they achieve.
