The Linden leg of the Ministry of Culture Youth and Sport Inter-Block football tournament is set to conclude tomorrow at the Mackenzie Sports Club ground with a mouth watering clash that should bring out fans in their numbers to support their respective areas. Tournament favourites Amelia’s Ward will challenge Christianburg in the championship contest following semi-final wins on Wednesday.
Christianburg stuck the needle in Richmond Hill compliments of Derron Smith who found the back of the net in the 15th minute from the run of play. That strike held good for the rest of the game and piloted them to the grand finale.
Amelia’s Ward had to fight tooth and nail to claw a penalty kick victory from Valley Poker Street 5-4. The sides had played out a 0-0 stalemate in regular time.
Preceding tomorrow’s championship game is an Under-20 contest between Net Rockers and Vasco. The latter are a new team in the Linden area but have made their mark finishing third in the last second division tournament, setting the stage for an interesting opening contest.
