The Guyana and Demerara Cricket Boards have congratulated Travis Dowlin on his maiden Test century. Following are the respective messages.
The President and executive members of the Guyana Cricket Board, and indeed the members of the Guyanese cricketing public congratulate you on the outstanding achievement of an international century, scored last Tuesday in the second ODI against Bangladesh in Dominica. You did hold the Golden Arrowhead proudly aloft.
Despite your performance, the team still stand 0-2 in the series. Regrettably, we do not, as in times past, or as in the case of other international teams, have that raft of reserves equipped and ready to be launched onto the arenas.
You though have demonstrated that there is some foundation upon which the reconstruction could take place. Our very best wishes for much more success.
In their letter, the DCB said, “We shared your disappointment when you missed this significant milestone in the Second Test of this series, and now likewise share with you the ultimate joy and happiness that this achievement brings for you, the entire team and West Indies cricket in general.
“The construction of this innings is a direct testament to the character, discipline and professionalism which you bring to this glorious game and we wish you continued success for the remainder of the series and beyond. We trust that this achievement will motivate the team in securing its first victory of the series…”
“Once again, congratulations to you, Travis!!!!”
