Dear Editor,
Trevon Griffith’s century against the Leeward Islands in the opening round of the TCL Regional Under-19 three-day competition at the Up Park Ground in Jamaica saw the DCC opener join fellow DCC stalwarts with centuries at the Under-19 level.
Mark Harper set the tone with consecutive centuries against the Windward Islands and Trinidad and Tobago in the preliminaries during the 1975 Benson & Hedges championship.
Andrew Lyght followed with a pugnacious 104 against Jamaica at Sabina’s Park the next year 1976 during the Benson & Hedges finals. Roger Harper’s 102 against Barbados at Kensington Oval in 1980 was next.
Nolan McKenzie continued the trend with 120 vs. the Windward Islands during the preliminaries of the Northern Telecoms tourney in Barbados (1988). Keith Semple 101 vs. Jamaica at the Everest 1989 was the last centurion until Griffith’s feat.
