Essequibo received a boost, when a quantity of wickets, bats and balls were presented to assist the county in running off of the Under-15 Kiddy Care softball cricket tournament.
The Kiddy Care tournament is being contested nationally, and will see the top team in this zone taking on their counterparts from Berbice and Demerara, as well Linden.
Darshan Persaud receiving the equipment on behalf of Essequibo thanked the Sponsors and Guyana Softball League (GSL) for the initiative. Persaud said that this boost will bring joy to the kids who are home on holiday from school and it will help them to remain active and be a part of this growing sport.
He also informed that the excitement for the tournament is already high and teams are busy putting in their final preparation to ensure that a high level of softball cricket is the end result.
“I see this as a golden opportunity for the youths of Essequibo to showcase their talent and therefore be in the forefront of this tournament.”
