Following are the results of matches played in the Guyana Softball League / Trophy Stall sponsored nationwide round hand softball competition recently.
Zone ‘A’ – West Coast Demerara
Superstreet XI defeated Raiders XI by 70 runs at Leonora Primary School ground. Superstreet batted first and scored 97 all out in 10.1 overs. Anand Debiden 30, Bharat Kumar 25, Danzell Foo 4-15 from 3 overs. In reply Raiders were bundled out for 27 in 8.2 overs. Bharat Ramdial 5-6 from 3 unplayable overs and Khalid Mohamed 4-5 from 3 overs.
At the same venue, Rangers Sports Club ‘B’ defeated Parika/Hydronie Sports Club by 3 wickets.
Parika/Hydronie batting first were bowled out for 93 in 12 overs. Dinesh Lallaram 20, Lakeram Kissoon 15, Robert Stevenson 4-15 and Brian Felix 3-20. In reply Rangers reached 94-7 from 11 overs. Anthony Arjune led with 30, Krishnanarine Datt took 2-10.
Zeeburg Warriors XI defeated Parika/Hydronie in their 2nd match by 4 wickets.
Parika/Hydronie, were bowled out for 73 in their 15 overs batting first. Ravi Sugrim hit 15 with the main wicket taker being Avenash Yugnauth 4-15 and Lakeram Dhanraj 2-12.
Zeeburg Warriors in reply reached 74-6 in 10.4 overs, Arjune Persaud made 16 not out. Dinesh Lallaram took 3-15.
Zone ‘C’ – East Coast Demerara
Kishan XI defeated Upsetters XI by 4 wickets at the NIS ground.
Upsetters batted first and posted 165-5 off 15 overs. Ravi Lall slammed 71, Maharaj Singh took 2-15. In reply Kishan XI blasted their way to 169 losing 6 wickets in the process from 10.5 overs. Basil Narine led with 41, Kishan Singh grabbed 3-55 in a losing effort.
Zone ‘D’ – Linden
Bad Boys XI defeated Genesis XI by 2 wickets at the Christianburg ground.
Bad Boys won the toss and invited Genesis to bat, they were sent packing for 81 in12 overs. Sherwin Mc Calmont was the main batter with 35, Andy Spencer took 4-18 for Bad Boys who responded with 82-8. Andy Spencer returned with the bat to hit the top score of 18. Mervin Bell had figures of 4-20.
Bad Boys will now face Sunrise Sports Club in the final of the Linden Zone to determine the champion team of the area.
Meanwhile both Bad Boys and Sunrise will meet two Georgetown teams, Regal and Trophy Stall in the knockout stage, the date will be announced later.
