‘Golden Jaguars’ Randolph Jerome and Sean Cameron now playing with the Pittsburgh Riverhounds opened their 2009 United Soccer Leagues second division season with a 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace Baltimore.
The game was played at the University of Maryland-Baltimore County Stadium in front of an announced crowd of 2,015. The Riverhounds won the possession battle in the first half but were unable to create many scoring chances. Pittsburgh’s best chance of the first half came in the 25th minute when Justin Evans headed the ball towards the net, but Palace goalkeeper Brian Rowland made a tremendous save to keep Baltimore in the game.
Both Jerome and Cameron are being managed by Garth Nelson who secured the contracts for both players.
Nelson stated that Guyana should expect to have up to nine ‘Golden Jaguars’ playing in the United Soccer Leagues this year. He is currently working on a deal for Kevin Beaton. “2009 has been a great year for me so far I have secured contracts for players from the Trinidad Pro League all the way to the Major League Soccer and in a few weeks I am going to be launching Beach Football in Guyana for the first time.”
