While systems were being put in place by the representatives Guyana New York Sports Association (GNYSA), host of the 2009 LinWest Games, the inclement weather has been putting pressure on the final product.
The organisers of the event, which was scheduled to be staged today at the Enmore Community Centre Ground, has postponed the meet to Saturday May 02 at the same venue.
This postponement, the official stated via a release, was due to the weather and the condition of the Enmore ground.
President of the GNYSA, Richard Thompson on Friday told Kaieteur Sport that despite the threatening weather, the organising committee have no problems with the meet.
“Planning is very good. We have no problems with it [the meet] and things are in place. We hope that there is no more rain because the outfields of the ground have a little water…,” Thompson had said.
However, more rain between that time has not done their plans well.
The LinWest Games usually attracts mass participation because of its attractive prizes but the event was previously restricted to Linden, West Demerara, East Bank and East Coast but West Berbice and East Berbice will debut this year.
