RHT Pepsi ‘A’ advance to final, Scotsburg reaches semis
A brilliant all round performance by Berbice under-17 player, Terrence Madramootoo piloted Rose Hall Town Pepsi ‘A’ into the final of the Gilgeous Pawn Shop twenty20 competition.
Madramootoo struck an attractive unbeaten 60 off just 26 balls and returned with the ball to claim 2-15 as the host team defeated Blairmont by 60 runs at the Area ‘H’ Ground. Batting first after losing the toss RHT Pepsi found themselves in early problems at 36-5 in the 7th over after an opening partnership of 24 between Simon Lawson and Lionel Lewis.
From 36-5, national under 15 player Dominic Rickey and Delroy Hicks carried the score to 60 before Hicks was run out for 13. Ricky was then joined by Madramootoo and together they were able to rescue RHT Pepsi with Madramootoo taking the attack to the bowlers. Hitting the ball to all parts of the ground, Madramootoo and Ricky carried the score to 125 before Rickey was run out for 22.
Berbice under-15 player Shawn Perriera joined Madramootoo and batted out the remaining overs taking the score 144-7. Madramootoo’s 60 contained 4 sixes and 5 fours. Perriera was not out on 8.
In reply, Blairmont were dismissed for 84 in 18.4 overs, only Daneshwar Ramkissoon 14, Lakeram Charran 12 and Sudesh Mohan 11 reached double figures.
Madramootoo was well supported by Eon Hooper 2-8, Shawn Pereira 2-9, Leon Crawford 2-12 and Simon Lawson 2-16. For their efforts RHT Pepsi ‘A’ drew the bye to the championship game.
Over at the Bush Lot Farm Ground, Scotsburg crushed Kildonan by a massive 170 runs to book their semi-final spot.
After taking first strike, Scotsburg rattled up 231-7 off 20 overs with national under-19 player Anthony Bramble lashing his way to 58 (6 sixes & 4 fours), Ryan Ramdass hit 42 (5 sixes & 2 fours) and Alex Amsterdam 40.
Adrian Park grabbed 5-41 for Kildonan who were shot out for 61 in 16.4 overs. Chandra Mankarran top scored with 16. The main destroyer was Amsterdam who snared 5-4 and Marvin Harvey 2-16.
Scotsburg will now face off with the winner of the Rose Hall Canje / Bermine 2nd round match. The semi-finals would be played on Wednesday at the Area ‘A’ Ground.
