The four Tactical Services Unit ranks, including a lance corporal, who were placed under close arrest after they were allegedly nabbed attempting to collect a sum of money from a drug suspect, are expected in court on Monday.
This newspaper was told that three charges each have been recommended by the Director of Public Prosecutions. Kaieteur News was also told that the ranks have since been moved to the Brickdam lock-ups, where they are expected to be held until Monday, when they are expected to make their court appearance.
Initial reports are that, on Wednesday last, the ranks had arrested the suspect in a section of Greater Georgetown with a quantity of marijuana.
Kaieteur News was told that the suspect offered the policemen a sum of money in exchange for his freedom, but the ranks demanded more.
The suspect reportedly left to collect the money, but tipped off a police officer about the deal.
When the TSU ranks attempted to collect the cash, they were confronted by some of their colleagues.
