The West Indies selectors have announced a change to the West Indies “A” Team to play against England at Warner Park in St Kitts from January 29-31.
Fast bowler Kevin McLean will replace Nelon Pascal, who was injured in the second round of the West Indies Cricket Board’s Four-day Competition, last weekend.
McLean, who turns 21 on Saturday, made his first-class debut against Guyana at the Guyana National Stadium last year and in the last of his four matches at this level, grabbed a career best 5-49 against Guyana to help his team to victory at Cave Hill in Barbados this week.
The tall Barbadian pacer also took two second innings wickets to move to 14 scalps from four games at this level and impressed Chairman of the West Indies selectors Clyde Butts who witnessed the contest.
Leon Johnson and Brandon Bess are the Guyanese in the 12-member ‘A’ team squad which will be captained by St Lucia’s only Test player Darren Sammy.
This is the last warm-up match for the English team before the start of the first test from February 4 in Jamaica. (Sean Devers)
