Dear Editor,
I read with interest the call by Antigua & Barbuda’s opposition Leader, Steadroy Benjamin, calling on the government in his country to take crime fighting to schools. Good for him!
I wish the Opposition Leader in Guyana would take a similar posture, as our schools are becoming active breeding grounds for young criminals.
But, would they? So often have the PNC criticised the police for “pulling in youths”. It is as if that Party encourages violent and other crimes in Guyana.
In the letter columns in the newspapers, Karen De Souza expected “resignations” at the ministerial level for the current flooding. I am sure Ms. De Souza has solutions to the flooding problem which she may willingly share with the subject minister.
But, I wonder if Ms. De Souza would comment on the role of the citizenry in flood prevention. Surely, she must have seen people engage in acts contributing to the present state of affairs. Has she ever reported them? T. Jabour
