Bandits attacked another mini bus passing through the Agricola area, relieving several passengers and the driver of their valuables at gunpoint.
Police said that the robbery, which was perpetrated by five men, one of whom was armed with a gun, occurred at around 20:00 hours on Saturday.
According to the police, three of the bandits joined the route 32 mini bus at the Stabroek Market and requested to be taken to Agricola.
There were nine other passengers in the bus, and the operators did not sense that the three men were up to anything adverse.
But, as the vehicle slowed down near the main Agricola access road, one of the men placed a gun to the back of the driver’s head and ordered him to stop.
When the vehicle stopped, two other men appeared and, together with their other accomplices, robbed the driver and passengers of cash, jewellery and cell phones, before escaping.
And the police were called to investigate another robbery in which taxi driver Terrence King was relieved of his vehicle by four men, three of whom carried guns.
According to reports, King was attacked and robbed by the men at Middle Road, La Penitence, also on Saturday.
Investigations revealed that two of the men hired the taxi, HB 2586, at the Bourda Market to go to East La Penitence.
While travelling along Middle Road, two other men on a motor cycle drove in front of the vehicle, forcing King to stop.
He was held at gunpoint, tied up with duct tape, and placed in the back seat of the vehicle.
The men then took him to ‘A’ Field, Sophia, where he was released while they escaped with the vehicle.
The car was later found abandoned at Vryheid’s Lust, ECD.
Meanwhile, at around 16: 00 hours on Saturday, ranks of a mobile police patrol conducted a search on a mini-bus at Cummings Street, Georgetown, during which an unlicensed .38 revolver was found.
A man was arrested and is assisting with investigations.
