The Guyana Badminton Association received a Quantity of Feather Shuttlecocks worth over $ 40,000 from Mr. Jun Jao Zhang, the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China on Monday last.
The presentation took place at the Queens College Badminton Courts where members of the Guyana Badminton Association Executive received the gift.
Several young players display the Shuttlecocks following the presentation, while Ambassador Jun Jao Zhang (centre) and GBA president Gokarn Ramdhani (right) share the moment.
The Ambassador and Members of the Chinese Embassy also enjoyed playing a game of Badminton after the Presentation.
According to a release from the association, the Guyana Badminton Association expressed pleasure at being able to receive the Feather Shuttlecocks because it is very expensive to obtain. In a match up to 12 Feather Shuttlecocks have to be used costing around $6,000.
The release informed that Feather Shuttlecocks have to be used for Local Tournaments and also for training for International Tournament where only Feather Shuttlecocks are used.
