The Rose Hall Town Metro Female Cricket team on Saturday last continued their dream debut in the Berbice Cricket Board under-15 competition.
Led by a brilliant all round performance from national Female Player Tremayne Smartt, the team won their third straight match on first innings points in the tournament.
Batting first at the Area ‘H’ Ground, Courtland Cricket Club were bowled for 122 with Carl Hogien hitting 20 while Gavin Hughes and Jermaine Cort made 19 each.
Smartt, bowling off spin took 4-23 with good support from national fast bowler Erva Giddings, 2-13 and Nikita Toney 2-31 with her left arm spin.
In reply, Rose Hall Town Metro Female Cricket Team reached 135-3 when the match was called off with Tremayne Smartt leading all batters with the top score of 27.
Shemaine Campbell was unbeaten on 24 and Berbice player Jackie Singh 22, the two featuring in an unbroken fourth wicket partnership of 34 which saw their team to first innings points. Guest players Dominic Rickey and Lionel Lewis made 22.
The Metro Female Cricket Team is the first female team to play in any male cricket competition in Guyana and has proven to be very competitive.
The team however is fielding two male under-16 guest players and is not awarded points for the matches.
