The body of a 54-year-old woman, with her throat reportedly slit, was found at around 16:00 hrs yesterday in the upper flat of her two-storey home at La Resource, Essequibo Coast.
Kaieteur News understands that police found evidence that the killers gained entry to the house by forcing the back door open.
According to reports, the stove was lit, indicating that the victim was preparing a meal when she was attacked.
Hakh, who is survived by a daughter, lived alone.
The gruesome find was made when a close friend of the victim decided to visit her. After calling at the gate and getting no answer, the friend entered the premises and discovered Hakh’s body lying in the hallway in a pool of blood. Her throat appeared to have been slit.
When Kaieteur News arrived on the scene, detectives had cordoned off the crime scene, preventing the victim’s relatives and curious villagers from viewing the body. No arrests have been made.
