Great Memories win feature at Port Mourant Emancipation meet

Great Memories of the Jagdeo Stables won the Banks DIH feature C class and lower even when the Port Mourant Turf club held its eight event Emancipation horse race meet on Sunday August 3 at Port Mourant on the Corentyne Coast.

Great Memories won comfortably from stablemate Isle Be Thru with Little Pannie and Baby Boy finishing third and fourth respectively to take the $300,000 at stake in the one mile event.

The day was blessed with brilliant sunshine with one of the largest crowds to witness horse racing at the entity.

The three year event for horses bred and born in Guyana and the West Indies with a first prize of $200,000 was won by Showing Up from Tropical Passion and pre-race favourite the Gap. The event was also a one mile affair.

Pleasure Star took the 2 yr old 1000m gallop which had $160,000 on offer for the winner from La-Bayamosa with Princes Warrior third.

Fresh Prospect of the Jagdeo stables won the F class event and the $160,000 first prize in the 1200m sprint. Stable mate Fire Power blazed home second with Love You Dee third.

Perfect Drift pocketed the $110,000 first prize on offer for winning the 1400m H class race from Brown Boy and Miami Vice.

The, I class event was taken by Brown Boy from Miami Voice and Sue Sheumi. The win was worth $100,000 and the distance was 1200m.

Choice Return was the winner in the J and K event and a $90,000 purse from Sadam and Miracle Mind in the 1200m sprint.

Miracle Mind then won the L class 1200m gallop and $80,000 from Fire Maker and Funny Side.
Jockey Krishna Singh received the Trophy Stall trophy from owner Kevin Sunich for emerging the champion jockey.

Over 55 horses took part in the day’s proceedings which had over 2.5 million dollars at stake.
