(Kaieteur News) – Six teams will take to the field at three venues in Guyana today as preparations intensify for the 2026 International Masters Cricket Over-40s World Cup, which bowls off on Saturday.

The practice matches, scheduled to begin at 10:00 am, will provide the participating teams with an opportunity to fine-tune their combinations and assess their readiness ahead of the tournament, which runs until October 31, when the championship final will be contested.

All three matches will be played over 45 overs per side, mirroring the format of the World Cup and allowing teams to acclimatise to the conditions and demands of the competition.

At the Guyana National Stadium at Providence, the West Indies will face the United States of America in what promises to be a useful examination for both sides ahead of the opening weekend.

Meanwhile, Australia will take on a Rest of the Caribbean selection at Lusignan, while Canada and Namibia will meet at the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) ground.

The simultaneous fixtures form part of the final phase of preparations, with teams seeking to build match rhythm, evaluate their playing combinations and sharpen their strategies before the tournament gets underway.
