(Kaieteur News) – Arrangements are underway for an upcoming meeting between A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) and the We Invest in Nationhood (WIN), scheduled for Monday, 24th August, 2026, at 11:00hrs.
In a letter dated 22nd August, 2026, the Office of the Leader of the Opposition addressed APNU General Secretary Sherwin C. Benjamin, confirming receipt of APNU’s venue requests.
Following inter-party discussions involving WIN parliamentary representatives Odessa Primus, and Tabitha Sarabo-Halley, along with APNU’s Sherwin Benjamin, WIN agreed to explore two proposed options: securing a meeting space within the Parliament Buildings, or utilising an agreed-upon private business establishment.
The Opposition Leader’s office confirmed that it “will make the necessary inquiries regarding the availability of a suitable meeting room at Parliament Buildings,” while APNU concurrently engages private management for an alternative space. Citing the tight timeline over the weekend, WIN noted, “we believe this approach will allow sufficient flexibility to ensure that the engagement proceeds as planned.”
Closing its letter, WIN emphasised that it “remains committed to constructive dialogue and collaboration with all opposition parties on matters affecting our democratic institutions and the interests of the Guyanese people,” adding that it “look[s] forward to a productive meeting.”
The scheduled session follows earlier correspondence from APNU dated 21stAugust, in which Benjamin acknowledged an invitation to meet regarding “the Local Government Commission and other issues affecting our democratic institutions.”
Writing on behalf of APNU Chairman Aubrey C. Norton, Benjamin stated that “the APNU is prepared to engage in dialogue based on good faith and mutual respect, with the aim of advancing the interests and development of the Guyanese people.”
He added that APNU “recommends that the meeting be held at a mutually agreed-upon venue,” aligning with the party’s expressed vision for “the creation of a Guyana in which citizens can live productive lives free from the ravages of poverty, secure in their homes and in their communities.”
