(Kaieteur News) – Dem boys seh examination season does bring out two kinds of students: dem who study, and dem who does study how fuh avoid studying.
Now everybody know Guyanese people could find excuse quicker than a taxi man could find horn. But some excuse got ambition. Dem does deserve certificate all by demself.
Dem boys hear bout four university students who spend the whole night celebrating like if examination was a public holiday. By morning, dem couldn’t tell left from right, much less Mathematics from English. Naturally, dem miss the exam.
Well, dem march straight to the lecturer with face longer than a government project and explain that a flat tire keep them from reaching the examination.
The lecturer nod quiet, say no problem, and arrange a special make-up examination.
Dem boys seh when a man agree too quick, mind yuh business.
Come examination day, the four students arrive looking fresh, confident and smiling like people who think they beat the system.
Dem open the paper.
One question.
“Which tire went flat?”
Dem boys seh is at that very moment all four realise that lying require more revision than Physics.
But cheating got levels.
One teacher walk up to a student during examination and whisper, “I hope I didn’t just see you looking over at your neighbour’s answers.”
The boy answer without blinking.
“Yeah, Miss, I hope you didn’t see it either.”
Dem boys seh some children nowadays don’t deny the crime. Dem just pray the witness got poor eyesight.
Then again, confidence could be dangerous.
One invigilator spend the whole examination watching one student copying from a crib sheet, glancing left, peeping right and harvesting answers like rice in Region Five.
When the papers collecting time come, the invigilator block he path.
“No, sir. You were cheating all through the examination. You can’t hand in that paper.”
The student puff up he chest.
“Do you know who I am?”
The invigilator say, “Not the slightest idea.”
The fellow grin, slip he answer sheet into the middle of the pile with everybody else’s paper and stroll away before anybody could say “multiple choice.”
Talk half. Leff half.
