(Kaieteur News) – A new 43-room hotel aimed at boosting tourism and hospitality on the Essequibo Coast Region Two was recently commissioned.
Businessman Roopan Ramotar and his family opened the Rooster International Hotel at Anna Regina. President Dr. Irfaan Ali, Senior Minister with Responsibility for Finance Dr. Ashni Singh and other government officials joined the commissioning ceremony.
The investment has been described as another addition to the rapidly growing hospitality sector in Region Two.
The hotel forms part of Ramotar’s broader vision to expand tourism offerings on the Essequibo Coast. In addition to the accommodation facility, he has already developed a nearby food and entertainment boardwalk that is expected to provide a venue for cultural performances, dining and recreational activities.
Widely known as ‘Rooster’ or ‘Fowl Cock,’ Ramotar has long maintained that Essequibo has the potential to become one of Guyana’s leading tourism destinations, a belief reflected in his continued investments in the region.
The Rooster International Hotel features 43 guest rooms and is designed to cater to both business and leisure travellers. According to the hotel’s management, guests will have access to modern amenities, including spacious accommodations, dining facilities, a fitness centre and other hospitality services.
The hotel places emphasis on environmentally friendly practices while aiming to provide a comfortable and high-quality experience for guests. Meanwhile, the entertainment boardwalk is expected to showcase local artistes and Guyanese cuisine, creating opportunities for local businesses while adding another attraction for visitors to the Essequibo Coast.
