Regional Executive Officer (REO), Marti De Souza; Minister within the Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development, Pauline Sukhai; and Minister within the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport, Steven Jacobs commissioning the health post and handing over of the ATV to the Brian Sucre Junction community on Friday.
“Prior to the operationalisation of the facility, persons who needed medical attention had to travel to Mahdia, which would cost up to $60,000 per trip. Kaieteur News understands that the Brian Sucre Junction community has over 100 residents, and serves as a four-corner junction where communities like Konowaruk, Mango Landing, Micobie Village, El Paso Village and Mahdia pass through.
Last year, Brian Sucre Junction, a small community got first-time access to clean and reliable water following the commissioning of a new $35M water supply system. Prior to that, residents relied on rainwater harvesting or a nearby spring for their daily water needs, particularly during the dry season.
That aside, the community also received a new ATV.
