Max Massiah earns prestigious GOAT Honours Martial Arts induction

Kaieteur Sports – Guyana’s martial arts diaspora community has another reason to celebrate after veteran practitioner and instructor, Master Max Massiah, secured one of the sport’s highest international recognitions, earning induction into the GOAT Honors Martial Arts Class of 2026.

Massiah has been officially added to the Grand Master Lawrence Martial Arts events, which form part of the prestigious GOAT Honors (Greatest of All Time) 2026 programme scheduled for July 25 in Virginia, United States.

Guyanese, Master Max Massiah, has been recognised for his outstanding contributions to Martial Arts over the years.

The induction recognises individuals who have dedicated their lives to the advancement of martial arts while exemplifying the values of discipline, leadership, mentorship, and community service. It is regarded as a distinguished honour within the global martial arts fraternity and celebrates practitioners whose contributions have extended far beyond competition.

For decades, Massiah has been a leading figure in USA’s martial arts, helping to develop athletes, promote traditional values, and strengthen the sport’s presence in the United States. His latest accolade further cements his reputation as one of the most respected martial artistes.

According to one correspondent, Massiah’s journey has inspired generations of practitioners and contributed significantly to fostering unity and brotherhood throughout the international martial arts community. His career has been characterized by excellence, commitment, and unwavering dedication to the principles of Budo, qualities that have earned him widespread admiration among his peers.

The Guyanese-born master has also received endorsements from several distinguished martial artists around the world, including Cuba’s Shihan Omar Rodriguez Negro, a seventh-degree Dan of Shinbuddo Ryu Cuba, who praised Massiah’s longstanding contributions to the discipline.

An emotional Massiah expressed gratitude upon learning of the honour.

“I am grateful for everything I have achieved in martial arts. Martial arts remains very dear to me and I will continue to serve in any capacity possible. Hopefully, I can inspire many more martial artists in the years to come,” Massiah said.

Massiah through a style he developed, Maxido, has been teaching self defence to local practitioners. The style is basically for anyone who wants to learn basic self defence techniques that are workable in regular situations. It has been specifically tailored for all ages, while mainly targeting females and other vulnerable persons. He has done demonstrations overseas at events attended by the best of the best in Martial arts and received very high reviews and recognition.

As he prepares to be honoured in Virginia next month, Massiah’s induction stands as a proud achievement not only for himself but also for global martial arts fraternity.
