Dear Editor,
I am writing to express my absolute disgust regarding a situation that has persisted for far too long at the La Parfaite Harmonie Primary School. It is nothing short of an educational travesty that the name of this institution—intended to be a beacon of learning—is prominently and erroneously painted on the school building as “Parafait Harmony Primary School.
This is not a minor oversight; it is a glaring error that has remained for years and is utterly disheartening to witness. How can we, as a society, expect our children to value literacy or strive for academic excellence when the very walls of their school mock the lessons taught inside? To allow such a high-profile error to stand sends a clear, damaging message to our students: that accuracy is irrelevant and close enough is acceptable.
Every day that our children walk past that misspelled signage, we undermine their education. Attention to detail is a fundamental building block of communication, yet the school’s own facade serves as a monument to linguistic negligence.
I therefore urge the relevant authorities, particularly the Ministry of Education, to take immediate steps to rectify this embarrassment. The name is La Parfaite Harmonie. It is time we showed our children, and our community’s reputation, the respect they deserve by remedying this unacceptable display.
Sincerely,
Edson Grenville
