(Kaieteur News) – The government through the Ministry of Home Affairs will soon spend $374 million to construct new fire stations at Rosignol in Region Five and at Cumberland in Region Six.
At the recent opening of tenders at the National Procurement and Tender Administration Board (NPTAB) office it was disclosed that the construction of the Rosignol Fire Station is estimated to cost $187,166,594. Seventy-Two contractors bid for that project.
Among the contractors are Vishal’s Contracting, Truck Smart, Dimitri Construction Services & Supplies, H2 Asset (Guyana) Inc., Builders Hardware, General Supplies & Construction, Kawal Ramdeen General Construction & Office Furnishings, Singh & Son Construction, Triple ‘A’ Construction Services & Supplies, Innovative Engineering Solutions, Professional Build Experts, Pro Business, Build Smart Construction & Supplies Inc., AA Construction, Dundas Construction Inc., and Mohamed Rafi Yusoof Construction.

Meanwhile, 68 contractors bid to construct Cumberland Fire Station at an estimated cost of $186,873,436. Among the bidders are Professional Build Experts, ECS Construction & General Supplies, L. Pool Civil Works, Kraft Innovation Momentum Inc., Safraz Construction Services & Supplies, H2 Assets Guyana Inc., Cummings Electrical Co Ltd, Singh & Son Construction, Armo’s Construction & Supplies, Blue Print Builders Inc, R.P Construction Agency, S&K Construction, AB General Contractors Inc., Triple ‘A’ Construction Services & Supplies, AYN Construction & General Services, Builders Hardware, General Supplies & Construction, S.A.H Construction, and AI Architects.
Kaieteur News understands that this year, the government has set aside some $1.1 billion towards the Guyana Fire Service.
During the presentation of this year’s budget, Senior Minister with the responsibility of finance, Dr. Ashni Singh said that in 2025, five new fire stations were completed namely at Charity, Parika, Diamond, Soesdyke and Wisroc, which was complemented by targeted upgrades to existing facilities and living quarters.
“In 2026, planned infrastructural investments will encompass the completion and commissioning of seven additional fire stations in Onderneeming, Campbellville, Ruimveldt, Timehri, Mahaicony and Tarlogie, as well as the construction of the Rosignol and No. 38 Village fire stations and a Marine Fire Station in Port Georgetown,” he stated.
