(Kaieteur News) – Police have arrested two young men following an intelligence-led operation carried out on Friday, April 10, 2026, between 15:00 hrs and 17:00 hrs at Mocha, East Bank Demerara.
The suspects, a 22-year-old vendor and a 21-year-old construction worker, both of Barnwell North, Mocha, were taken into custody in connection with separate robbery under arms and break-and-enter and larceny incidents reported earlier this month.
Investigators allege, according to a police press release, that the duo was involved in the armed robbery of a Chinese-owned supermarket at Goed Fortuin, West Coast Demerara, on April 6, 2026. They are also suspected to have participated in a break-and-enter and larceny at a residence in Eccles, East Bank Demerara, on the same date.
Following their arrest, the men were escorted to the Providence Police Station, where they were questioned and subsequently detained. Police said that CCTV footage obtained from both crime scenes was reviewed and played a key role in identifying and locating the suspects. The two suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue.
