(Kaieteur News) – The Guyana Police Force (GPF) has announced that it has added a new batch of 101 recruits to the Force.
In a statement via its Facebook Page on Thursday, the Force said that the batch graduated on April 8, at the Police Officers’ Mess Annex, Eve Leary. The recruits were from three training campuses Georgetown, Berbice, and Essequibo, namely Courses 400, 401, 23 ‘G,’ and 48 ‘B.’
“Friends and well wishers, turned out to make the occasion even more special as these young men and women completed another successful training session after braving many obstacles during their training period,” the Force said.
This batch of recruits underwent a rigorous eight-month training course, which consisted of both practical and theory aspects of law enforcement. The curriculum administered consisted of four main modules, that matched the requirements of modern-day policing.
“The training topics covered included digital file creation, correct documentation like that of the General Property Book and Charge Sheets for prisoners, as well as foot drills, practice drills, crime scene simulation, and traffic accidents, among others.
Different techniques were employed in the training process, which included PowerPoint slides, videos, and other visual techniques. Professionalism, integrity, and relationship building with the citizens were other key elements emphasised,” the Force added.
The feature address was delivered by Deputy Commissioner of Administration, Ravindradat Budhram, and he commended the graduates for their perseverance and dedication, noting that their journey into policing has only just begun. He encouraged them to remain committed to ethical conduct, continuous development, and service to the nation.
“The strength of the Force lies not in any single hand, but in the cohesive, diverse, and principled teamwork of all its members,” he stated. “Your work is inseparable from the fabric of Guyanese life. Build trust with the communities you serve, listen before you act, and partner with citizens, schools, faith groups, and civil society to address the root causes of crime and foster safer, more resilient neighbourhoods,” the Deputy Commissioner said.
Several recruits from the courses were recognised for their outstanding performances over the course of the training. Categories included as the Best Student, Runner-up Student, Best Drill, and Best Shot.
Constable Rajkumar copped the Best Student and Valedictorian award, Runner-up went to Apprentice Harry Samuels, Best Drill was awarded to Apprentice Harry Samuels and Best Shot, was copped by Constable Paulin.
