(Kaieteur News) – The body of 15-year-old Arif Azeez, who drowned following a jet ski incident at Hot and Cold Lake in Region Two, was recovered on Tuesday morning.
Azeez, a student of Adventure on the Essequibo Coast, reportedly got into distress on Monday afternoon while operating a jet ski at the lake located in Onderneeming.
Regional Commander, Senior Superintendent Khemraj Shivbaran, confirmed with Kaieteur News that the teen’s body was discovered around 08:20 hrs.
The body bore several injuries, including head trauma and a broken leg. However, Shivbaran confirmed that while injuries were noticed, the main cause of death was drowning. “The main cause of death was drowning compound with some injuries,” the commander said.
The Guyana Police Force (GPF), in a statement, said initial investigations revealed that Azeez had gone to the lake with friends for an outing and was operating a jet ski when he allegedly fell into the water and disappeared. An alarm was raised immediately, and persons in the area began searching for the teen. Kaieteur News understands that the teen was performing a 360-degree manoeuvre on a jet ski, fell off, struck his head, and went under.

Compounded injuries of this youngster.
He fell while doing 360’s on the jet-ski.
Hit his head, which in turn, may have collided with his leg.
And broke it.
A person’s head in HARD, depends on what part is involved.
Plus, there were other injuries.
Caused by his head ?
We have to wait on the doctor for Post Mortem results.
