(Kaieteur News) – A 46-year-old man was on Friday arrested after officers of the Customs Anti Narcotics Unit (CANU) on Friday seized 12.104kg of cannabis and 1.272 kg of cocaine at the Transport Wharf, Water Street, Kingston, Georgetown.
In a statement, CANU said that its officers, acting on information received conducted an operation at the wharf where they intercepted Jermain Mickel of Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara with two cardboard boxes.
“A subsequent search of two (2) cardboard boxes in the possession of the suspect revealed thirteen (13) parcels containing a quantity of cannabis and one (1) parcel containing rock cocaine,” CANU said.
The narcotics were taken to CANU’s headquarters where they were weighed.
Investigations are ongoing.
