Kaieteur News – An ongoing dispute between two residents of Dowding Street, Kitty, Georgetown over building materials being left in front of a property has left one man hospitalised and another in hiding.
Police said that on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at about 06:45hrs, a 55-year-old self-employed man of the said address was stabbed.
It was disclosed that on the day of the incident, the victim was exiting his yard when he observed a load of sand dumped in front of his property. As a result, he approached the suspect and asked him to remove the sand, but the suspect refused and an argument ensued, which escalated into a physical altercation.

Police said the suspect reportedly left the scene, returned with a sharp object, and stabbed the victim once to the abdomen before escaping.
The victim subsequently went to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation Accident and Emergency Unit, where he was examined by a doctor and admitted. His condition is listed as critical but stable.
Police have since recovered CCTV footage.
