(Kaieteur News) – Two bandits shot a 36-year-old West Ruimveldt fish vendor who was standing in front of his home before relieving him of an undisclosed amount of jewellery and cash.
The Guyana Police Force (GPF) in a statement said that the incident occurred at about 10:00h at River View, West Ruimveldt, Georgetown.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim was standing in front of his yard when an unidentified duo approached him, one reportedly armed with a hand gun.
“The armed suspect reportedly discharged several rounds in the victim’s direction, causing him to receive injuries to his upper right thigh and right hip. The other suspect then relieved him of an undisclosed quantity of jewellery and cash before both suspects fled the scene on foot,” police said.
The injured man was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, and his condition is listed as stable.
