Gun, ammo found hidden in New Amsterdam home
(Kaieteur News) – Police are investigating the discovery of a firearm and eight rounds of ammunition at a residence at Main and Asylum Streets, New Amsterdam, Berbice, on Monday, September 7, 2026.
Preliminary investigations revealed that ranks, acting on information received, proceeded to the residence, where a search was conducted.

During the search, a suspected firearm and three suspected rounds of ammunition were found concealed in a wardrobe in a bedroom.
A further search of the premises led to the discovery of five additional suspected rounds of ammunition concealed in the ceiling of an adjoining washroom.
The suspected firearm and eight rounds of ammunition were taken to the Central Police Station, where they were lodged pending examination.
No arrest has been made. Investigations are continuing.
