Kaieteur News – Four persons were left nursing serious injuries following an accident along the Buxton Public Road, East Coast Demerara, in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Despite the severity of the crash, no fatalities were recorded. Divisional Commander and Assistant Commissioner Khali Pareshram confirmed to Kaieteur News that the accident was not deadly.
Preliminary reports indicate that the driver of motor vehicle PAN 141 allegedly lost control and collided with another vehicle travelling in the opposite direction.
An eyewitness recalled the frightening moment of impact. “I see the girl in the white car come out the lane and when she come out the lane, the other car was coming and knock she. She went in the wrong lane,” the witness said.
The driver of the second vehicle, a vendor who was travelling along the western lane to the market to ply his trade, said he tried to avoid the collision but failed. “The car coming straight and I try to dodge and come in the corner but I still get knock,” he explained. He sustained a broken leg and bruises to his forehead.
The injured individuals were transported to the Enmore Regional Hospital, where they are receiving medical treatment.
Up to press time, the Guyana Police Force had not yet issued an official statement on the accident.
