Kaieteur Sports – Inclement weather reduced what was expected to be a high-octane clash, to a basic encounter as Berbice emerged champions of the 2026 GCB U16 50-Over Inter-county tournament, following yesterday’s final played at the Georgetown Cricket Club Ground, Bourda.
Demerara had another ordinary batting performance by their standards, making just 112-10 with just 13 balls remaining, in a match eventually reduced to 30 overs due to rain.

Opening batsman Lomar Seecharran led with a watchful 78-ball 35 (3×4) with support from Ashton Collins (23).
Offspinner Ravindra Persaud (3-20) was the pick of the Berbice bowlers with help from Jaden Ganpat (2-11).
The Berbicians were rewarded with some knocks by Trevor Reynolds (24), opener Akash Ramdewar and Luke Amsterdam both hit 16 with additional help from Altaf Ali who ended on 17* with a solitary four.
Collins (3-28) tried to pull things back with his left-arm spin but failed to keep the game in favor of his side, along with Makai Dowlin (1-6) and Seecharran (1-14).
Despite being 3 down in the 19th over, Berbice kept their cool and drove home thanks to the collective effort from their main scorers.
