(Kaieteur News) – A 29-year-old woman of Bush Lot, Essequibo Coast died on Saturday hours after she was involved in an accident along the Anna Regina Public Road, Essequibo.
Dead is Ashley Holder.
Reports are that Holder died around 05:56h Saturday while receiving treatment at the Lima Regional Hospital.
Police said that the accident occurred about 21:50h Friday and involved a car bearing registration number PAK 4313 and driven by a 54-year-old male of Onderneeming, Essequibo Coast and Holder.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that the motor car was proceeding south along the eastern driving lane of the roadway when the driver felt an impact to the front of his vehicle. Upon stopping, the driver observed the pedestrian lying unconscious in front of the motor car,” Police said.
Holder was picked up by the driver and rushed to the Lima Regional Hospital, where she was admitted with injuries about her body and head.
The driver was subsequently arrested and taken to the Anna Regina Police Station, where a breathlyzer test was done, revealing he had 10 micrograms of alcohol in his system which is below the legal limit of 30 micrograms.
He remains in custody and video footage extracted from the car’s dash camera will be reviewed as investigations continue.
