(Kaieteur News) – Police have arrested two women for possession of 345.8 pounds of marijuana which was discovered during a stop and search on Saturday along the Number 10 Public Road, West Coast Berbice (WCB).
The contraband was discovered around 07:20h.
The women have been identified as 33-year-old Shamay Bryan and 32-year-old Sarafina Cheddy. Reports are that Cheddy was arrested for a similar offense back in 2022.
“During the operation, ranks stopped a motor car with two female occupants. A search was conducted on the vehicle, during which several brown salt bags and black garbage bags containing bulky parcels wrapped in transparent plastic and containing leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis were found in the trunk,” the Guyana Police Force said in a statement.
The women were both taken to the Fort Wellington Police Station along with the narcotics. The cannabis was weighed in their presence and subsequently lodged.
