(Kaieteur News) – Police on Thursday seized a firearm from a security guard attached to a Good Hope, East Coast Demerara supermarket after they discovered that he was not the holder of a license.
According to reports, ranks led an intelligence operation around 19:30 hrs to the facility.
“During the operation, ranks on mobile patrol made contact with a security guard who was observed in possession of a shotgun. The individual was questioned by the ranks, and a 12-gauge shotgun, along with five (5) live 12-gauge cartridges, were found in his possession. Upon enquiry, it was revealed that he was not in possession of a firearm licence or precept,” police said.
The suspect, a 24-year-old male of Lusignan East Coast Demerara, was arrested and escorted to the Vigilance Police Station.
The ammunition and firearm were processed and subsequently lodged as investigations continue.
