(Kaieteur News) – Police in Regional Division #2 are investigating the murder of Nicholas Fredericks, a 25-year-old gold miner of Wakapau, Lower Pomeroon River which occurred on Monday morning in the village.
According to police enquiries disclosed that Fredericks was at an event earlier that night within the community when an altercation reportedly occurred. Shortly after, he was discovered lying on the ground with what appears to be multiple stab wounds. He was taken to the Wakapau Health Centre where he was pronounced dead on arrival by a doctor on duty.
The body was escorted to the Suddie Public Hospital Mortuary where it awaits a post-mortem examination. An 18-year-old gold miner was arrested and is currently in custody assisting with the investigation. Investigations are ongoing.
