(Kaieteur News) – A Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo man was on Thursday stabbed to death by his reputed wife. The victim has been identified as Gavin Linden Melville called ‘Doggie’.
The incident occurred at about 01:15h.
Preliminary investigations suggest that Melville and the 48-year-old woman resided together at their Tuschen Phase 2, East Bank Essequibo home.
The duo reportedly had an altercation after returning home from an event. During the altercation, Melville was reportedly stabbed in the neck.
“Upon arrival on the scene, police ranks observed the victim lying motionless in the living room. He was escorted to the De Kinderen Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival by a doctor on duty,” police said.
The man’s body was taken to Ezekiel Funeral Parlour where it awaits a post-mortem examination.
Melville’s reputed wife was arrested and taken to the De Kinderen Regional Hospital where she was examined and sent away.
She remains in police custody assisting with investigations.
