(Kaieteur News) – A 44-year-old miner is now in custody after police, acting on information, intercepted the motor vehicle, which he was driving and discovered 36 pounds of suspected cocaine concealed in frozen fish.
In a press statement, the Guyana Police Force (GPF) reported that the intelligence operation was conducted on Sunday September 27, 2026, at Richmondville, Providence, East Bank Demerara, when ranks intercepted a motor vehicle driven by the miner, who was the sole occupant.
A search of the vehicle was conducted, and ranks found two bags containing frozen fish in the trunk. An examination of the fish revealed several parcels containing a white powdery substance suspected to be cocaine concealed inside the fish.
A total of 15 parcels containing the suspected cocaine were recovered from the frozen fish.
The miner was arrested and taken to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) headquarters along with the suspected narcotics and motor vehicle. The suspect remains in custody as the investigation continues.

This miner is using outdated shipping to conceal his drugs.
He was set up, no doubt. Too many people involved.
