Gaza ceasefire and Trump ‘Peace Plan’

As we in Guyana and people worldwide celebrate the festive season and religious holidays like Christmas, let us remember the millions in Gaza facing genocide, famine, inadequate food, shelter, healthcare, education, and the loss of basic rights.
Gaza ceasefire and Trump ‘Peace Plan’
- Between October 7, 2023, and December 17, 2025, Israel and the Israeli Defenses Forces killed more than 70,668 Palestinians including 20,179 children and injured more than 171,152,
- The 20-point ‘Trump Peace Plan’ and the ‘ceasefire’ is in tatters with repeated violations by Israel deadly for Palestinian people. These violations include:
- Israel’s refusal to abide by the terms of the ceasefire, violating the withdrawal to an agreed-upon line
- Refusal to allow full humanitarian aid to enter Gaza immediately to rebuild essential infrastructure
- Refusal to allow Aid to flow freely via UN and Red Crescent
- Refusal to immediately fully reopen the Rafah crossing in and out of Gaza
- Continued forced displacement and refusal of return for Palestinians leaving Gaza
- Since the October 10, 2025, Israel has violated the ‘ceasefire’ agreement more than 738 times with bombings, artillery and targeted shootings killing more than 394 Palestinians and injuring more than 1,075.
- According to Al Jazeera, daily violations of the ‘ceasefire’ agreement have taken place daily except for 11 days during 58 days of sustained deadly bombings and military attacks
- Violations of the ‘ceasefire’, the first phase of the Gaza ‘Peace Plan’, include 205 shootings of civilians, 37 raids in residential areas, 358 bombings and shelling, 138 people’s properties demolished and detention of 43 Palestinians in the space of just one month.
- Only 8,521 aid trucks or 39%, have been allowed to enter Gaza in clear violation of the ‘ceasefire’ agreement of entry of 40,800 aid trucks between October 10 and December 16.
- Worse still, Israel has deliberately blocked essential and nutritious food entering Gaza, instead non-nutritious food stuffs are being given priority, leading to further malnutrition and under nutrition of children, nursing mothers, parents and the Palestinian population in general in Gaza.
- The deliberately cruelty of Israel in blocking the entry of mobile homes and waterproof materials and tents have further led to deteriorated living conditions of Palestinians in the face of storms, strong winds and heavy rainfall which flooded and swept away 27,000 tents killing 11 Palestinians within 24 hours, while 13 residential buildings already damaged by Israeli bombings collapsed.
In the face of all these numerous violations, Israel has faced no penalties, consequences or accountability by the parties with responsibility for monitoring this tattered and failing ‘ceasefire’ and Trump Peace Plan.
It is well known that Israel has violated every ceasefire/peace plan with Palestine, Lebanon and has been bombing the territory of Syria repeatedly.
This ‘Ceasefire’ and ‘Peace Plan’ plan was supported by many countries including France, Germany, Russia, Italy, Spain, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Turkey, Qatar, Jordan, Indonesia, Pakistan, Canada, and the United Kingdom, yet citizens of the world have seen Israeli impunity with little or no criticism, sanctions or penalties for Israeli’s continuing genocide.
In the face of the repeated violations by Israel of the first phase of this peace plan, BDS Guyana has no confidence that the second phase will fare any better as no stabilization force has been agreed and amidst continued violations by Israel with impunity of first phase of the peace plan. The tattered, failing ‘Peace Plan’ also lacks Palestinian representation, voice, recognition of Palestinian self-determination and sovereignty over a Palestine State.
BDS Guyana calls on the Government of Guyana to break all diplomatic, economic and commercial ties with genocidal Israel including the Ministry of Agriculture hydroponic project in partnership with Israeli company Karlico Inc. We also call on private sector companies DDL to end their partnership with the Israeli LR Group and ENet to end its partnership with Israeli company Heights Telecom.
