interCaribbean Airways to launch Ogle Airport service with ‘Spirit of Guyana’ inaugural flight
(Kaieteur News) – interCaribbean Airways on Friday announced the launch of scheduled service to Guyana’s Eugene F. Correia International Airport (OGL). In a statement to the media, the airline said that there will be “a celebratory inaugural flight operating on Wednesday, December 11, 2025, to dedicate the airline’s specially painted ‘Spirit of Guyana’ aircraft (registration VQ-TGY).”
Further, the airline said that the new service fulfills a long-standing commitment to provide Guyanese travelers with more convenient access to Caribbean connectivity. interCaribbean has been working toward expanding operations to Ogle (OGL), responding to customer demand for service to the centrally located Georgetown airport.

“We’ve listened to our customers, and they’ve been asking for Ogle service,” said Lyndon Gardiner, Chairman of interCaribbean Airways. “Flying into Ogle means our passengers are minutes from downtown Georgetown. As we have expanded our ATR fleet, we’re now able to deliver on this commitment – and what better way to launch this service than with the ‘Spirit of Guyana’ leading the way.”
The December 11 inaugural flight will include a special welcome ceremony at Ogle, with government officials and aviation stakeholders expected to attend. interCaribbean will continue to operate its existing service to Cheddi Jagan International Airport, with Ogle now providing an additional convenient option for regional travel.
Since launching its service to Guyana in December 2021, interCaribbean Airways said it has become a vital link for Guyanese travelers. “The addition of Ogle service enhances connectivity options, with the centrally located airport offering easier access for Georgetown residents traveling to Barbados, Grenada, Jamaica, and 20 other Caribbean destinations,” the airline noted.
The ‘Spirit of Guyana’ aircraft features the Guyana flag prominently on its tail and bears the name “Spirit of Guyana” on its nose, celebrating the nation’s heritage as it serves routes across the interCaribbean network.
