Kaieteur Sports – It was another rain-affected round, most notably for the Harpy Eagles who had their encounter versus the Barbados Pride abandoned without a ball being bowled, likely wrapping up this year’s campaign for the Guyanese whose entire Super50 season was determined by the weather.
Over at the Queen’s Park Oval, Leewards were bowled out for 213 in the 49th over, led by veteran Jahmar Hamilton who struck 71 (6×4) (2×6).
Hurricanes skipper Karima Gore chipped in with 39, with all-rounder Rahkeem Cornwall (20) being the next best scorer.
Medium-pacer Terrance Hinds (3-50) and left-arm spinner Ricky Jaipaul (3-32) for the second successive game, carried the Red Force bowling attack, as four other bowlers picked up a wicket apiece.
Red Force opener Tion Webster dazzled with a match-winning 83 off 110 balls (10x 4 1×6) before Amir Jangoo hit a classy 72 not out with 8 fours to help solidify a commanding win.
Cephas Cooper chipped in with 28 (3×4 1×6) while Jyd Goolie finished with a run-a-ball 23* (3×4).
Only Nathan Edward (1-37) and Cornwall (1-12) managed to make inroads for the Leewards, who saw curtains come down on their season.
Meanwhile, the Harpy Eagles suffered another game being abandoned without a ball being bowled, as their season too came to a damp end yesterday versus the Barbados Pride.
The Eagles, apart from one loss and a half of an innings being played in the first round, were faced with a string of No Results or abandonments to their other games, making this Super50 season arguably one of the worst within the last decade. (Clifton Ross)
