– Three matches slated for this Saturday
Kaiteur Sports – Rose Hall Community Centre advanced to the next round of the Ivan Madray T-20 First Division knockout cricket competition when they defeated Port Mourant Community Centre by 34 runs.
In a game, which was played at the Young Warriors Ground in Cumberland, East Canje, Rose Hall Community Centre batted first in the game which was reduced to 15 overs due to rain.
They reach 158-7 in their allotment of overs. Romario Ramdehol led the way with 68 which included (8×6, 3×4). He got support from Adrian Hetmyer 38 (2×6, 2×4) and Altaf Balman 25 (3×4).
Bowling for Port Mourant, veteran former Berbice player Vijay Seenarine picked up two wickets.
Port Mourant in reply were held to 124-7 in their 15 overs with Andy Mohan 40 (5×6, 1×4) and Dimitri Cameron 36 (4×6, 1×4). Bowling for Rose Hall Community Centre, Sanjay Algoo snapped up two wickets while national pacer Isai Thorne took one.
The competition is expected to continue on Saturday with a number of matches.
In the matches scheduled, Police will take on Albion Community Centre at Albion.
Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club (RHTYSC) will be at home to Rose Hall Community Centre at the area H ground and Young Warriors versus Skeldon Community Centre at the Young Warriors venue. All matches are expected to begin at 12.30 pm. (Samuel Whyte)
