(Kaieteur News) – A miner was arrested in the Mango Landing area on Tuesday after he was found to have in his possession 215 grams of marijuana.
According to a statement from the Guyana Police Force on Wednesday, “a quantity of suspected cannabis was found in the possession of a 26-year-old miner of Guyhoc Park, Georgetown and also of Plaisance, East Coast Demerara.”
During the operation, several persons and their belongings were searched. The suspect was found to have in his possession a white plastic container which police suspected had a false bottom, upon opening the container, a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis was discovered. Police informed the suspect of the offence and he was subsequently taken into custody and escorted to the Mahdia Police Station.
The suspected narcotics were weighed in his presence, amounting to 215 grams and subsequently lodged as evidence.
Investigations are ongoing.
