(Kaieteur News) – Two armed motorcycle bandits escaped with $300,000 in cash, two bottles of 12-year-old rum and three cartons of Dunhill cigarettes after robbing the L-Mart Supermarket at Red Road, Providence, East Bank Demerara (EBD).
The robbery took place around 15:00 hrs. on Wednesday.
Investigators reported that the owner of the supermarket, Qiu Yousheng, was conducting business when the bandits arrived on a red and black motorcycle bearing registration number CL 3925.
The pillion rider entered the supermarket and pointed a handgun to Yousheng before going behind the counter and stealing the cash and other items.
The duo then made good their escape in a western direction.
