(Kaieteur News) – A 15-year-old was chopped to death on Friday, allegedly by his stepfather, during a row over a bicycle at their Stewartville, West Coast Demerara (WCD) home.
Dead is Sudesh Singh, called Joel of Lot 71 Last Street, Stewartville. He was killed around 14:30 hrs.
Investigators said that the teen and his stepfather had a misunderstanding over a bicycle. The bicycle belonged to the stepfather and the teen had reportedly used it and caused its chain to slip.
The stepfather confronted him and an argument ensued between them.
Police in a statement said that during the argument, the suspect ran into the kitchen and returned armed with a cutlass. He reportedly ran up to Singh and chopped him three times to the neck.
The suspect then walked out of the yard and made his way to the Leonora Police Station where he turned himself in. He was immediately arrested before police visited the scene.
“On arrival at the scene, the Police found the teen lying motionless, face upwards under the house, bleeding at his neck,” police stated while adding that a cutlass was seen near the body.
Singh’s body was removed from the scene and taken to the Leonora Cottage Hospital for further examination before being transported to the Ezekiel Funeral Parlour.
Several persons in the were questioned as investigations continue.
