Kaieteur News – A 38-year-old housewife and a 30-year-old taxi driver were hauled before the Diamond Magistrate’s Court, yesterday and charged with conspiracy to murder Enmore resident, Bhagmattie “Shabana” Jagatram.
The accused are Anita Varsha Chetram of Enmore, East Coast Demerara, and Akeem Orin Bristol, called “Biggs,” of Craig Old Road, East Bank Demerara.
Police said the duo allegedly conspired to kill Jagatram, 44, sometime between September 1 and September 24, 2025, at Yarrowkabra, Soesdyke Highway. The charge was laid contrary to Section 102(a) of the Criminal Law (Offences) Act, Chapter 8:01.
Chetram was arrested on September 26 by ranks from the Enmore Police Station, while Bristol was nabbed a day later by ranks of the Providence Police Station.
On Tuesday, around 14:30hrs, the two appeared before Magistrate Tameika Clarke at the Diamond Magistrate’s Court. The charge was read to them; they were not required to plead. Both were remanded to prison until November 7, 2025.
